The Obamacare open enrollment period is just around the corner, meaning it is time to get covered! The last thing you want to do is miss the open enrollment period and be faced with unnecessary penalties that can exceed the costs of obtaining health coverage in the first place. We want you to be both prepared and covered, which is why we have gathered these informational points of guidance for you:
- The Obamacare open enrollment period will begin on November 15, 2014 and will end on February 15, 2015. This is the only time in which you can alter or obtain your healthcare plan without qualifying for the special enrollment period.
- In order to qualify for the special enrollment period, you must experience an extreme life changing event, such as marriage, having a baby, adopting a baby, placing a baby in adoption, moving to an area with different healthcare requirements, experiencing a drop in healthcare coverage, and other unique circumstances.
- If you are looking to enroll for Medicare, the enrollment period is different. The fall open enrollment period for Medicare began on October 15, 2014, and will end on December 7, 2014. The Medicare disenrollment period occurs from January 1, 2015 until February 14, 2015.
