On May 6, 2010, IIABNY Chair of the Board, Lane S. Rubin presented the Chair’s Distinguished Service Award, the association’s highest honor, to Mark Hagan for his work on the New York Insurance Department’s new regulation on producer compensation  Rubin spoke of how Hagan helped the association “refine (its) policy,” acted as a spokesperson in meetings with the Insurance Department, and represented the group at Binghamton Insurance Day, even though he is not in a formal leadership position. “He is not currently on the board of directors or the public policy committee, but as is the case with valuable people, he stepped forward when we needed him most,” Rubin added. Hagan served as IIABNY chair of the board from 2005 to 2006.
